Simples Terms
Now these CFC's look pretty complicated but they are not, really.
There Chemical name is a nice long one : Chlorofluorocarbon ( Let's just call them CFC )
Now CFC's are organic compounds that contain CARBON , CHLORINE and FLOURINE.
Without getting into to much detail ...
They are widely used as Refrigerants (Not refrigerators) , Propellants and also Solvents
They also contribute to Ozone Depletion which is not so good, that's why at the Montreal
Protocol Meeting they made a packed to reduce use-age.
