STUDY 1
Aim
This study was to test the hypothesis that psychiastrists cannot always
tell the difference between people who are sane and those who are
insane
PPTS
8 psuedo patients
o 5 males and 3 females
o Many different occupations included Rosenhan himself
Most medical details provided were accurate apart from hearing
voices
Method
12 psychiatric hospitals were used
Each patient contacted the hospital for an apoitnment
On arrival they said they were hearing voices "empty" or "hollow"
After coming in to the hospital they acted normally
