AQA P2

VELOCITY, ACCELERATION+DISTANCE & VELOCITY TIME GRAPHS

Speed=how fast an object is moving.

Velocity=speed and direction.

Acceleration=how quickly velocity is changing.

DISTANCE

m

SPEED TIME

m/s secs

Acceleration=change in velocity

Time taken

DT Graphs

Gradient=speed

Flat bits=stationary

Downhill=returning to start

To calculate speed do vertical

Horizontal

VT Graphs

Gradient=acceleration

Flat bits=steady speed

Down/uphill=acc/deceleration

To calculate acceleration do vertical again

Horizontal

BUT...for the speed just read off the velocity axis because speed and velocity are pretty much

same remember.

And distance travelled=area under graph.
