BULLYING



What is bullying?

Any behaviour that DELIBARATLEY upsets threatens or hurts another person.
Happens between individuals, within communities, schools and workplaces
Caused by INTOLERANCE, INJUSTICE AND CONFRONTATION
Results in basic rights and freedoms being DENIED


The different types of bullying are:

Reasons for bullying:

DISCIPLINE AT HOME- children not taught what is right and wrong
Permissive parenting; where the mother/father lets child do what they want- no
control
Authoritarian: very strict parents, maintains control/discipline, child sufferes from
lack of affection, harsh punishments- child follows authority but has no inner
self-discipline and…

EDUCATION ­ TRUANCY to avoid bullies, lack of concentration- future opportunities affected
SLEEP DISORDERS: INSOMNIA, Bed wetting
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS; anxiety, social dysfunction, depression- leads to suicide,
deliberate self-harm, loneliness, low-self esteem
SOMATIC SYMPTOMS- psychological problems that create bodily ailments
SECURITY- don't feel safe- carry weapons
REPUTATION of area, school etc.…

everyone knows what to do/who to speak to
consequences of actions clear
QUALITY CIRCLES- encourages students to discuss and come up with own solutions.
Identify problem
Analyse problem- causes, extent of problem- interviews, observation etc.
Develop a solution- improved supervision, raise awareness, more
playground activities
Present solution to school management…
