Example (apply to all linear sequences):

FIND THE DIFFERENCE:
4 7 10 13 16

Write in a table. To find the last part of the rule:
1. Get the number in front of the "N", in this case
3, and multiply by the nth terms e.g. 3 x 1 = 3.
2. You then take this away from the first term in the
sequence. (4-3) So the difference is +1.
3. For the second one you would do
3 x 2 = 6, 7-6 = +1 and so on.

Nth term 1 2 3 4 5
Difference +1 +1 +1 +1 +1
Nth term = 3n + 1
