Women Men and women don't understand each other
Only women are Curleys wife, Susy, girl in weed and aunt Clara, all give a

Dreams George and Lennie dream of a better life, Candy and crooks try to get
involved, George speaks `rhythmically' about the dram, gets `entranced'
by it and at the end says `I think I knowed we'd never do her'
Some characters have different dream though. Curley's wife wants to be a
movie star and the others just want to get away.
Destiny The characters have no control, `you hadda George' when he killed Lennie
`I guess we got to get him' also about Lennie shows that other people had
more control than they did of themselves.
Death Lennie killed a mouse, slim drowned 4 puppies, Carlson kills the dog,
Lennie kills the puppy and Curleys wife then Lennie is killed. Like its part f
ranch life. Death ends everyone's dream.
Discrimination Lennie: Disability make people think he's stupid
Crooks: Black and disabled
Candy : Old and gets in the way
Curleys wife: a useless woman
All due to society in America at this time, all left alone together (chapter 4)
Symbolism Light and dark symbol hope and despair `it'll be dark before long'
Red is used a lot, shows danger, girl in Weeds dress, Curley's wife, danger
and blood
