He had a weak claim at first as was in exile in
Brittany after fleeing with Jasper Tudor when
Henry VI was secretly murdered in the tower.
He tried one invasion in October - 1983, known as
Buckingham's revolt. However, Richard III was
putting pressure on Brittany to give Henry up so
he moved to France.
In 1485 he tried his second invasion. This was
stronger as he had French support with money &
troops. He marched through the North and East...

Here's a taster:

After winning, Henry made himself popular by knighting
11 people and only fining those who had fought against
him instead of executing them.
He was then crowned King on the 30th of October and
Parliament was called on the 7th of November to
recognise him as King.
Henry's reign was then declared before the battle of
Bosworth, therefore anyone who fought against him
was fined for treason. Henry then created:
Acts of Attainder: fines rather than executions (shows
mercy again and helped boost the wealth of the crown)
Acts of resumption: took make lands that were in
Yorkist hands.
Finally, in 1986 Henry married Elizabeth of York bringing
the Yorkists and Lancastrians together. The Pope
confirmed this with a Papal Bull.…read more
