Health and Fitness
If the participate takes up football anew the short term effects of the sport are that
the heart begins to pump faster therefore breathing is accelerated and much more
oxygen is demanded for when the oxygen cannot reach the muscles demanding it to
sustain the exercise levels lactic acid begins to form therefore creating pain when in
the sport for a long time the amount of lactic acid produced is reduced because the
heart can beat faster therefore getting more blood around the body. When
participating in football for a long period of time the body becomes used to exercise
and therefore the chances of getting blood clots or other heart related dieses are
lowered dramatically. For example atherosclerosis is the accumulation of
cholesterol and fatty deposits on the walls of arteries, playing football regularly for
long term will help reduce the chance of receiving this because as the blood pumps
faster around the body the blood is also breaking down any excess fat to turn into
glucose for energy, it may also reduce obesity because it will control the body
weight which helps against hypertension and diabetes. The amount of blood been
able to be distributed around the body will be increased because the heart will
become stronger therefore enabling it to pump faster therefore increasing stroke
volume which increase the venous return which will be able to bring more blood
back to the heart faster therefore distributing more oxygen around the body and
getting rid off carbon dioxide faster therefore not letting lactic acid build up
increasing there fitness and performance levels. The social benefits towards football
are the fact that the performer would meet and make friends with others with similar
interest reliving stress from every day life. Thus reliving hypertension and helping the
person risk free from heart attacks and other cardiovascular dieses. If a performer
is having a bad emotional time at home or school then football would be a good
after hour's activity for recreational purposes because it will help free them from the
emotional boundaries they are having elsewhere, this is because the exercise will
be demanding and therefore they are concentrating entirety on the sport forgetting
about problems outside the pitch.
