Male Reproductive System
Testes
This is where the sperm are made by meiosis.
Epididymis
A coiled tube which stores sperm
Scrotum
a bag which contains the testes and hangs below the abdomen. This is because the sperm
need to be produced and stored at a temperature just below normal body temperature.
Sperm duct (vas defrens)
a tube which carries the sperm from the epididymis to the prostate gland.
Prostate gland & Seminal Vesicle
glands which produce fluid which nourishes the sperm and when mixed with sperm forms
semen.
Urethra
a tube which carries either urine or semen (not both at the same time) through the penis.
Penis
for placing sperm at the end of the vagina in the female.
Erectile tissue
spongy tissue which when filled with blood swells up making the penis hard and erect.
