Cum can mean when.
It is then followed by a form of the verb called the
subjunctive. You can translate these exactly the same as
normal verbs, it is only cum that changes it meaning.
The pluperfect subjunctive has ­isse in it
E.g. constituisset (she had decided)
A normal verb would be constituerat
The imperfect subjunctive is made up of the
infinitive + personal endings (m, s, t, mus, tis, nt)
E.g. spectaret (she was watching)
A normal verb would be spectabat
