GENETIC ENGINEERING ­ MAKING HUMAN INSULIN
1) The gene from human insulin is cut out of a human chromosome using a restriction enzyme
2) Another enzyme is used to cut open the DNA
3) The DNA is inserted into the plasmid
4) Bacteria replicates then plasmid replicates
5) Bacteria is cultured to extract insulin
6) Insulin is purified
Advantages: Pure, doesn't harm animals or plants and makes the right amount.
Disadvantages: people think it should be banned, cystic fibrosis
