Accompaniment: ( ONLY DRUMS ­ Playing off beat accents to match those in melody )
·Chorus 1 (64 Bars)AABA:
o Mostly Diatonic with occasional Chromatic notes with mirrored changes in chords
o Use of 9th 11th 13th chords to enrich harmony and add dissoance
o Solo made out of different Motifs
o Use ofFormulaic improvisation (weaving melodic formulae into continuous melodic lines)
o Most pharses have a for bar phrase qoutation for `Chreeoke' (Ray Noble)
o AABA structure is usually described as 32 bar song form
o In B section the melody is reapeated a tone lower
o Final A section has Asymmetric phrasing
o In the alto-sax has unexpected weak beats
o The drums and piano contribute their own unexpected accents to the alto-sax filling in strong when
solo starts off beat
o End of with Sustained Dominant F in Alto sax ( echoed by piano an octave lower)
o Drums syncopated rhythm on bass drum. ( playing 3 crocthets rather than 1 single crochet)
