Revision notes
The Cell Cycle and DNA Replication
Cell cycle:process of cell growth and division
Interphase= Gap 1, synthesis and gap phase two.
DNA replication:occurs in Interphase
1. DNA helicase breaks hydrogen bonds to unzip polynucleotide strands.
2. Original strands used as templates for free nucleotides .
3. DNA polymerase joins free nucleotides to original strand using hydrogen bonds.
DNA contains one original strand and one daughter strand
Replication therefore = semi conservative.
