First 179 words of the document:

The `seeds' or Long Term Causes of the Cold War
What causes of tension arose between the USA and the USSR 1917-41?
Communism is altogether fairer than Capitalism because it stops the potential for extremes.
Capitalism allows people to make their own fortune. However, the consequences of this are that
there is extreme poverty for those who are less successful.
By contrast, Communism ensures that everyone has a job and, therefore, reduces the possibility of
extreme poverty. Furthermore, Communism ensures everyone is equal.
Therefore, it is fair to say that only Communists live together equally
A key example of the ideological differences between Communism and Capitalism is that
Communism believes in equality with all of its people, whereas Capitalism advocates people
achieving wealth and success through working up to it. These fundamental differences between the
USA and the USSR helped cause the Cold War because their ideologies were so different that they
would not be content to allow their rivals to continue in that way
