Cement ­ a substance made by mixing powdered limestone with
clay. When mixed with water is sets to a hard mass.
Composite ­ a material that is made up of another material.
Concrete ­ a construction material using cement, sand and
aggregate (small stones) mixed with water.
Construction materials ­ materials that are used in building.
Granite ­ an igneous rock formed inside the Earth by
crystallization of molten magma.
Igneous ­ rock formed when magma crystallizes.
Limestone ­ a sedimentary rock formed from the remains of sea
creatures. It is a form of calcium carbonate.
Marble ­ a metamorphic rock formed by the action of high
temperatures and pressures on limestone. A form of calcium
carbonate.
Ores ­ a rock that contains a metal or metal compound in
sufficient quality to make the extraction of the metal
economically viable.
Thermal decomposition ­ decomposition of a compound by heating.
