EXTRACTION!
The process of getting a metal from a
compound in a rock by a chemical
reaction is called extraction.
Some metals can be extracted by heating
the metal oxide with carbon
Zinc oxide + carbon iron + carbon dioxide
Metals such as magnesium are extracted
from the metal oxide by electrolysis. The
magnesium oxide has to be in molten
form before this can be done.
