Biology Revision Notes ­ Taxonomy:
Taxonomy ­ is based on the assumption that ALL LIVING ORGANISMS
ARE RELATED and that NATURAL SELECTION and SPECIATION has lead
to the diversity of species seen today
Diagnostic Feature ­ morphology (shape), anatomy, cell structure,
biochemistry
Unsuitable Diagnostic Feature ­ size, colour
Binominal system ­ two name, all organisms have both a generic and
a specific name e.g. Homo sapiens, Panthera leo, Panthera tigris.
