Active immunity ­ immunity developed by the body to foreign
invading organisms.
Antibiotic ­ medicine that kills bacteria.
Antibody ­ chemical produced by the body's immune system to
destroy foreign invading organisms.
Antigen ­ a thing that is foreign to the body.
Benign ­ not malignant. Will grow like a cancer.
Host ­ a live organisms that is fed upon by a parasite.
Malignant ­ tumour that consists of rapidly developing cells and is
cancerous.
Parasite ­ organisms that live on or in another living organism
causing it harm.
Passive immunity ­ short lasting immunity that is gained by
injecting other peoples' antibodies.
Pathogen ­ disease-causing organisms.
Toxin ­ poisons produced by microorganisms.
Tumour ­ a group of unspecialized cells that may be malignant or
benign
Vector ­ organisms that transmits and carries diseases.
