First 148 words of the document:

The nucleus is at the centre of the atom which is where protons and neutrons are
located.
Electrons orbit the nucleus in shells and the nucleus is small as compared to the total
volume of an atom.
The nucleus makes up the atom's mass as it is very dense .Most of the atom consist
of empty space between the nucleus and the electron shells.
PARTICLE RELATIVE MASS RELATIVE CHARGE
proton 1.0 1+
neutron 1.0 0
electron 1/1840 1-
Isotopes are atoms of the same elements with different numbers of neutrons. They
have different masses, same number of protons and e- and different numbers of
neutrons.
The atomic/proton number is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom.
The mass/nucleon number is the number of particles9protons and neutrons0 in the
nucleus.

Here's a taster:

Carbon exists as a mixture of
To make them electrically neutral atoms have an overall charge of 0.
Different isotoes of the same element react in the same way because: chemical
reactions involve e- and that neutrons make no difference to chemical reactivity.
IONS
Many atoms react by gaining or losing electrons to form ions.
Ions are charged because they have different numbers of protons and electrons.…read more
