Distance- time graphs:
A distance-time graph shows the
distance of an object from a starting point (y
axis) against time taken (x axis).
The speed of an object is the distance
travelled each second.
The gradient of the line represents an
objects speed.
The steeper the line the greater the
Velocity and acceleration:
The velocity of an object is
the speed of an object in a certain
o If an object changed
direction its velocity changes even if
the speed is the same.
o If an objects velocity
changes we say it accelerates.
More about velocity-time graphs:
If a line on a velocity- time graph is horizontal, the acceleration is zero.
The gradient represents the acceleration.
The area under the line is the distance travelled.
