Causes

1000 times bigger than a normal volcano
The CALDERA is 55km x 80km wide
A caldera is a large crater caused by volcanic material collapsing.
It is formed because of a volcanic HOTSPOT.

Effects

People visit it to see the GEYSERS and HOT SPRINGS.
Old faithful is an example of a geyser.

Overall summary

Beneath Yellowstone is a hot spot, where magma moves upwards in the Mantle, hits the base of the earth’s crust and melts it creating a huge chamber of magma.
