Advantages

  • Causes no pollution when operating
  • Can be built on land or at sea
  • Relatively cheap maintenance cost
  • Suitable for windy climate like UK
  • Can be built on poor farmland
  • More expensive to produce electricity
  • Lower house values in nearby areas

Disadvantages

  • Can kill or disturb wildlife
  • Looks unsightly in beautiful locations
  • Usually built a long way from market
  • High initial construction costs
  • Cannot work in high winds
  • Noise disturbs local residents
  • Uses land that could be farmed

Evaluation

Overall, wind power has the same amount of disadvantages as advantages. In my opinion, I think wind power is good and eco-friendly. This means that once the turbine is installed it is completely carbon-zero. I am saying "when it is put in" because the machinery used to make it and to put it up were not carbon-zero and let off carbon dioxide.
