Were Stresemann's solutions to Weimar Republic's problems stable?- or did he just 'cover the cracks'?

Advantages

  • Germany had more influence in world affairs
  • He secured borders and cooperation with other countries
  • Strengthened economy
  • Less support given to radical parties (ie. Nazis)- a sign that people of Germany felt secure with Stresemann's solutions

Disadvantages

  • Still high unemployment figures
  • Farmers didn't benefit from his solutions
  • Some people felt that Germany looked weak- giving in- by paying reparations
  • Germany's now stable economy depended on US loans- what if they were recalled?

Evaluation

I think that Stresemann certainly lead Germany in the correct direction to recovery with his solutions and that he was the best option in the dire state that the country was in without turning to radical parties. Some of his solutions weren't fully stable however as they relied on the USA whose economy crashed in October 1929 and this lead to Germany's loans being recalled.
