Advantages

  • Volcanic ash makes soil fertile.
  • Volcanic rocks make good building stones.
  • Geothermal Energy ( Energy is created by heating water with hot rocks below earth's surface. Hot water or steam created will drive turbines and electricity is created.)
  •       Tourism Industry is high in these areas, THUS , many jobs are created 
  •       for people in the tourism industry.

Disadvantages

  • Buildings and property might be covered in ashes or by lava.
  • Transport and communications may be disrupted.
  • Fires Spread
  • People might be killed.

Evaluation

Largest and most active volcano in Europe = Etna
When eruptions were the most damaging ; people died , villages like Catania were destroyed, animals and vegetations were killed, orange groves & vineyards were wiped out, roads destroyed, ski areas ruined and the airport was forced to close due to ash on the runway.
