EvaluationUsually studies are lab experiments, which adds demand characteristic and investigator bias to the findings, consequently lowering the external validity and the extent to which they can support the model, but extraneous variables such as age are well controlled. Psychology students are often used, but as students are more likely to be more intelligent they consequently may have more strategies for remembering and recalling information. As well as this these types of students may try to figure out what the experiments goals are, possibly affecting their behaviour and therefore the findings of the study, reducing the validity of the findings. Also, most of the studies are done relating to semantic memory making them relevant to some everyday memory situations, but not all of them. |
