The Lovell Rebellion 1486

Causes

  • Lead by Yorkist, as a result of the new Lancastrian King overthrowing the Yorkist King.
  • Want/need to overthrow Henry VII

Effects

  • Use of sanctuary for future traitor and rebels was denied by Henry
  • Henry's weak position was exposed and it presented the idea that Henry could be threatened by the nobles.

Overall summary

Lead by 3 minor nobles this was an attempt to overthrow Henry by the Yorkist. This ultimately changed the uses of sanctuary and presented the idea that Henry's position was not as strong as he believed.
