Set and Lighting (Physical setting)

Choreography

  • The lighting is light from the previous scene as he enters but darkens when he gets into starting his dance - after the first few chords the music deepens and so does the light
  • the light is a dappled dark blue like under the night sky , or like she was in his lair of seduction like she was under  a disco ball
  • The lighting made it look even more mysterious and hypnotic which matches Mr Whippy's character traits.
  • A puff of smoke enters stage before the character does.
  • Creepy smile to audience indicates the audience and he knows how Naive Clara is and he will take it for granted.
  • Mr Whippy's movements are slow, manipulative , sinuous , and teasing as he winds himself around Clara - Bourne used these movements to convey the sexual innuendo themes through out the performance.
  • He begins long slow, snake like movements very similar to his character. He puts emphasis into pelvis movements especially towards Clara.
  • Clara tries not to touch him digusted by his movements
  • She releases herself from his clutches and  realises he has a spare ticket into sweetie land but she refuses them knowing she would have to earn them and moral judgement came over personal convenience.
