Structured Observation

Advantages

simple to carry out
easy to replicate
provides quantitative data
easily analysed statistically

Disadvantages

data is not in depth so important information may be missed
behaviours may be missed if they is no coding scheme
gives restricted views of what is actually happening

Evaluation

structured observation -> design type of coding scheme to record participant behaviour -> 2 ways in how they can be recorded -> behaviour checklist or coding scheme
