	Advantages DEMOCRACY - public over the age of 20 could vote for party every 4 years and President every 7 years. PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION - seats in Reichtag awarded according to % of votes gained. Meaning parties which received voted had representation. PRESIDENT'S ROLE - could protect country in crisis. Power to appoint Chancellor and dissolve Reichtag to make new elections! ARTICLE 48 - president could pass laws without Reichtag: in times of unrest, it was used to make laws so government could continue.	Disadvantages DEMOCRACY-republic faced opposition of those who wanted to take down the democratic system (voted for groups who'd do this) PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION - small parties gained seats in Reichtag. Parties formed coalitions as no real majority = weak and unstable government. PRESIDENT'S ROLE - in emergency's they could issue laws by decree & override constitutional rights of German people. ARTICLE 48 - A president could have the power to override constitutional rights of German public.
	Evaluation The new Republic had many loop holes leading to the downfall of the constitution and the rise of Hitler and his Nazi party.
