Stem Cells

Advantages

  • Adult Stem Cells from the bone marrow of a healthy person can replace bad blood cells in a patient who recieves them.
  • Embryonic Stem Cells  could also be used to replace bad cells
  • make insulin-producing cells for people with diabetes
  • make nerve cells for people paralysed by spinal injuries

Disadvantages

  • Stem Cells grown in a lab may become contaminated with a virus which could be passed on to the patient and so make them sicker.

Evaluation

Cell differentiarion is the process by which a cell changes to become specialised for its jobStem Cells are found in early human embryos  they have the potential to turn into any kind of cell at allAdults stem cells are found in certain places such as bone marrow however they can not turn into any cell type all only specific ones such as red blood cells amd white blood cells.
