Sampling: Random

?

Sampling: Random

Advantages

  • In large numbers provides the best chance of unbiased representative sample of a target population
  • Avoids bias as you are randomly picking participants from for example a hat.

Disadvantages

  • The larger the population, the more difficult it is to sample randomly as compiling a list of everyone becomes more impractical.
  • True random sampling is very rare.

Evaluation

True random sampling only occurs when every member of a target population has an equal chance of being selected.
