Advantages

  • Absorb wave energy through the slats
  • Effective for many years
  • Can be cheap compared to other techniques

Disadvantages

  • Not effective in stormy conditions
  • Can make the beach inaccessible for tourists
  • Regular maintenance is required
  • Visually obtrusive
