Rescue Boats? I'd Use Gunships to Stop Migrants

Disadvantages

  • Approximatedly 75 years ago, the same passages Syrians are crossing now were crossed by other refugees, however, these were heading in the opposite direction. A total of about 60 million Europeans became refugees during the Second World War, fleeing from the war machines of Stalin and Hitler. Maybe you think that migrants harassing British truckers is the same as the "vagrants making the perilous trip across the Mediterranean". However, these migrants don't want to beg, they've left there families behind to find better working and living conditions. The same thing we did 70 years ago, we went to places like Syria, Egypt and Palestine to seek refuge from the war, and they gave them to us without question.
  • Would you have wanted Syrians bombing our refugees 70 years ago? Or would you have wanted them to welcome us with open arms? At the time, they allowed us to build refugee camps on their land without any grudges held against our "invasion". However, we are being very isolationist and not letting them come and seek refuge in our land. We aren't trying to help them out in any sort of way or even giving alternative solutions to this crisis. We aren't returning the favor that we are in debt of.
  • Caring about British truckers and taxpayers in the Uk isn't the same as wanting them to pay less taxes. If we allow refugees into our communities we will improve our economy. This is because we will have more people and a better economy since we can create more jobs.
  • If the boats are in short supply we might as well create more jobs by making more boats to transport these migrants to safe countries. In January 2017, there was an unemployment rate of 4.7% in the UK. And 9.4% of the construction workers are unemployed. If we were to start building more boats to transport these migrants we would decrease these rates of unemployment, at the same time saving many lives.
