Similarities

In the UK players could be 'fast-tracked' directly from school into pro rugby, this is similar in AUS with the Toyota cup it has appeared to 'fast-track' some players
A draft system does not appear in either country

Differences

In the UK schools and clubs develop talent, and in AUS talent is nurtured through club academies after selection from school or junior clubs.
The UK has pro clubs that have 'academies', AUS has 'Kids to Kangaroos' scheme to track junior players through club academies into pro games.

Overall comparison

No major differences between the two countries, AUS has been initiatives associated with Rugby League whereas in the UK Rugby Union is more dominant so they do not have as many specific strategies to do with league.
