Advantages

  • Cheaper labour
  • Access to resources that are not easily available in the UK
  • Financial incentives from foreign governments
  • Avoids protectionist measures by foreign governments
  • The market overseas may be growing fast

Disadvantages

  • There may be different rules and regulations in other countries
  • Customers may have different tastes

Evaluation

Overall i believe that the advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantages and that it could be good to locate overseas. I feel that the disadvantages towards overseas location are avoidable if the business adapts to the new location. For example if the customers have different tastes, the business could adapt what they sell to suit the market more effectively
