  • Character of Oedipus
  • Arrogant- thinks that he's outwitted fate by leaving his 'parents' home and travelling to Thebes
  • Unlikeable- when Tiresias won't tell him what he is able to see he insults the fact that he is blind. Says that Tiresias can't touch him because he can't see the light. Says he's lost his power
  • Shameless- feels no shame in accusing Creon (his brother in law) of trying to kill him. Also comes under arrogant as he believes he's always right
  • On the people's side- when he hears that in order to stop plague he must find who killed King Laius he assures the people of Thebes that he won't stop until he finds the person and will exile them from the city. Wants the best for his city
  • Curious- he won't stop looking for answers even when Jocasta realises what has happened and tells him to give up. His curious nature is what ends up killing Jocasta and blinding himself
  • Disrespectful- of the gods and prophets, he doesn't believe what Tiresias hints at and thinks its silly. He also curses the gods numerous times
