Advantages
- Highly scientific - such as localisation of functioning, avoids subjective bias and reliable data
- Can predict - help control or prevent behaviour e.g. serotonin and depression
- High internal validity - Reliable data , controlled and we can clearly see the cause and effect (IV cause the DV)

Disadvantages
- Ignores subjective experience - people are a 'set of scores' and often 'lose the person' such as you could say someone has a 1% chance of schizophrenia and then not able to explain the experience of the person
- Lack ecological validity - cant be generalised and might not be applicable to real life sitations
