Advantages

  • High control over the variables. No extraneous variables could affect the results. Makes them more reliable
  • Had a standardised procedure. It was a lab experiment. Can be replicated easily

Disadvantages

  • Ethical issues. Participants were psychologically harmed.
  • Participants may have been influenced by experimenter bias. They may have behaved in a way that they thought he wanted them to as he was in the room with them
