Causes

  • Enclosures became common in 1540s - economic slump, unemployment, inflation.
  • East Anglia was depended on for Industry.
  • Violence broke out against enclosures.
  • Kett assumed leadership of the mob.
  • Government of common people was formed, and demands were formed to show authorities.

Effects

  • P Somerset again slow to respond, promised rebel pardons if they disbanded.
  • Kett ignored pardons, and ordered attack against Norwich.
  • Large army force sent, 3,000 rebels killed.
