Advantages

quality of work is usually high as skilled workers are employed
workers are well motivated because the work they do is never the same
customers can order exactly what they want rather than accepting something mass produced

Disadvantages

tends to be labour intensive with fewer opportunities for automating larger parts of the process
expensive way of producing a product as high quality labour means a higher wage

Evaluation
