  • Hypothesis testing
  • Observable behaviour is measured

Disadvantages

  • Needs to be considered in the social context
  • Subjective
  • Demand Characteristics
  • Qualitative data
  • Humans are individual so results cannot be generalised
  • Impossible to control all variables

Evaluation

Features of a science are; controlled setting, IV manipulated, High reliability, generalisble, quantitative data, objective, testable and measurable, falsified. Methods that are scientific; lab, field, correlations, twin studies, brain scans. Methods that aren't scientific; dream analysis, case studies, unstructured observations.
