  • •The cause of drought is high pressure systems that create anticyclones leading to cloudless skies,Cloudless skies means no precipitation
  • hottest since 1540
  • highest temp recorded- 10th August Kent 39 degrees
  • temps above 5 degrees average for more than 5 days then remained 30 for 20 days in August

Effects

  • drowning-more people swimming in lakes etc...
  • 2000 people died
  • river levels reduced- boats could no longer use them
  • tourism increased
  • tarmac road surfaces melted
