Genetically modified crops (soya)

Advantages

Soya becomes herbicide resistant. Weeds are killed without affecting plants so less inter-specific competition. More yield.
More yield more profit.

Disadvantages

Affect on wildlife and foodchains
unknown long term consequences
Transplanted genes could escape into weeds. The weeds would become herbicide resistant

Evaluation

more testing should be done. The risks need to be fully evaluated and research should be complete.
