West Berlin

Advantages

  • Always had people to fill jobs as they were leaving east Berlin.
  • Helped their US espionage.
  • Gained skilled workers.
  • Promotion of Capitalism through more supporters.

Disadvantages

  • 2,000 refugees a day fleeing to the West - damaging the Soviet claim that the Communist way of life was better then capitalism.
  • Many of those leaving were skilled and qualified workers.
  • Soviets believed (rightly) that West Berlin was a center for US espionage.

Evaluation

West Berlin was clearly thriving with skilled people this meant that cash flow through business would've of been high businesses were able to flourish, also promoted capitalism to the rest of the world almost saying to the  world look capitalism is better they are leaving for our side.
