External recruitment

Advantages

  • You add new ideas into the company
  • Wider range of individuals to consider for the job.

Disadvantages

  • Lot of training
  • May not adapt to the way the business works
  • Don't know for sure if they are definitely hard workers
  • May cause tension/friction between them and other members of staff that were hoping for the position.

Evaluation

External recruitment should be used if the role does not require immense, immediate, in-depth knowledge of the business and there are no sufficient candidates available within the business. External recruitment should also be used if the business has gone stagnant and there are no new ideas.
