Empathy-Altruism Hypothesis

Advantages

  • Support in research

Disadvantages

  • Does not take evolution into account
  • Focus on only one level of analysis
  • Hard to distinguish between "true" altruism and just helping for one's own benefit
  • There are always benefits when helping someone

Evaluation

As one can see there are not many advantages with this hypothesis as there are many more disadvantages, however the support in research does comment upon that it exists which may outweigh some of the criticism stated above.
