Digital advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

  • More data can be fitted into the same band witch
  • Because it is a high frequency wave, a lot of digital data can be transmitted in a short amount of time
  • Interference can be eliminated, giving a better signal
  • Can be processes onto t a computer
  • In a series of ones and zeros, therefore more easier to read than analogue

Disadvantages

  • Data accuracy can be affected by sampling settings
  • Time delay due to signal processing

Evaluation

Digital is better than analogue due it being faster, easier to read and interference is less likely to happen. In a analogue signal, only one fibre delivers information whereas optical fibres using digital signals can convey much more than a one dot pixel of coloured light.
