Overall comparisonWilson's 14 points are a lot more lenient on Germany than the treaty, because Wilson's country suffered the least losses. While the 14 points are mainly about establishing countries independence and making Europe a more free place to live, the treaty focuses mainly on punishing the Germans for what they did, which can be seen in the blame and reparation terms. However, Wilson obviously argued his point on the League of Nations and the return of Alsace Lorraine, because they are the only two that appear in both lists, although the League of Nations point backfired slightly, because Britain and France refused to let Germany join. |
