Causes

  • stood 0 chance of survival
  • cramps
  • blue hue
  • in 1848 it claimed 52000 lives
  • cholera spread quick
  • people lived in crowded slums
  • cess pits were next to water sources
  • ideas about the cause based on 4 humours
  • bleeding victims, dehydrated them  further
  • suffered vomiting and the runs

Effects

  • in 1854 John Snow created a spot map of soho, broadstreet
  • he found that people who used th broadstreet pump got cholera
  • the handle was removed
  • he theorised that cholera ws caused by injestion

Overall summary

It was only until Koch discovered the true cause of Cholera in 1883, that Snows theory could be proved.
