Advantages
- Could help people become more aware of the consequences of their crime
- could help protect the public - preventative - reduces re-offending
- May help with offender release and rehabilitation - less risk
- Can be reversible
|
Disadvantages
- Does not guarantee not re-offending
- Limited application - only applies to male sex-offenders
- Not a deterrent if there are re-offences
- medication non-compliance -higher levels of testosterone than before??
- medical side effects - eg, breast developmnet
- If the drug is taken as a way to be released from prison, convicts could take 'revenge', or victims may lose faith in the CJS
